Peguche

Peguche is a little community close to Otavalo. It is famous for the beautiful waterfalls not too far away from the village.

A trip to the waterfalls is a great way to enjoy the beautiful nature, without going to far off the beaten track. Just take an hour walk through the countryside from Otavalo to get there.

During the weekend the park around the waterfalls is usually filled with tourists, but if you go there on a weekday you may have the place all to yourself.

If you're not into waterfalls Peguche is still a nice place to check out if you have a few hours to kill while you are in Otavalo. The weavings being sold in Otavalo come (part of it) from Peguche. Eventhough there aren't a lot of workshops open for visitors, it's still worth asking around.
