Morona Santiago

Morona Santiago is the Shuar province of Ecuador. There is no province in Ecuador that can offer you a better insight in this amazing culture.

Together with the lush rainforest this province has many exciting things to do for individual travellers interested in learning more about the Amazon.

Gualaquiza is a tranquil oasis at the southern most tip of the Oriente, where the dense lush Amazon collides with the verdant sierra forests. In this quaint, proud, amiable town the rich biodiversity ranges from jungle, to forest, caves, natural waterslides, and hosts delicious temperate climate. Gualaquiza boasts the same conveniences as its northern counterpart, Macas, but adds a personal quality, the type of place where people gladly take time out of the day to help a lost stranger find their way.

We still need to visit Bomboiza.

Macas, the capital of the Morona Santiago province, serves as a base for a plethora of ecotourism, hiking, andother adventure activities. The city itself is a bustling jungle metropolis where people from all over thep rovince venture for business. Perhaps the most attractive aspects of this somewhat sleepy town are the Catholic Church's patroness La Mama Negra and the indigenous ecotourism opportunities.
